When working within Ad Manager, there may be situations where you want to export data for use in MapPoint.
In Ad Manager, there are two ways you can export the data for use in MapPoint; copying and pasting, and doing an XML mapping export.
For Excel Files
After you customize your view in Ad Manager to include the Latitude and Longitude columns, highlight the desired items, right click and choose Copy (or CTRL + C on your keyboard). Go to Excel and paste or CTRL + V. Save the Excel sheet.
In MapPoint:
- . Open MapPoint
- . Click on Data tab
- . Select Import Data Wizard
- . Select the excel file you want
- . Providing it is labeled properly, the headings will be matched up and you can just click finished
- . This will bring you to another menu where you can specify map type, data fields and a legend.
For XML Files
Follow the instructions to export data to an XML file.
Then, do the following:
- . Open XML or KML files in Word
- . Save as a word document
- . Open the word document in Wordpad
- . Format files to ensure all information is separated with a comma
- . Save as a text document (.txt)
- . Open MapPoint
- . Click on Data tab
- . Select Import Data Wizard
- . Select the .txt file you want (you may have to change the file type you are looking for in order to find the document)
- . Once selected, you will have to match up column headings with the drop down menu (Latitude and Longitude are the main ones that MUST be matched up properly, other headings such as Name and other documents can be helpful when clicking on a point)
- . Once matched up, Click finished
- . This will bring you to another menu where you can specify map type, data fields and a legend.
