This section will detail how to set up Ad Manager to publish to Content Manager.

Please note that it is preferable that Content Manager is controlled by one Ad Manager. Also it is prefereable that this set up be completed by the company's IT personnel on the SQL Server.

Installation of Synchronization Services

1 - Install AmCmSync on the computer by running the AmCmSync.mis installer.

2 - You will prompted to set your service login. This is your Windows login account information for the machine, including the network domain name. If it is a local user (there is no domain name), you enter ".\" instead of the domain. You will also be prompted to enter and confirm the password for the login specified.

If the login credentials provided are not correct, the installation will notify you that there is an issue with the information you have entered. If this occurs, you will need to close the installer and restart the installation of the AmCmSync program again.

3 - Once you have successfully entered your login details, the Synchronization Service will be successfully installed. There will be two new services that run on your machine - "Dot2Dot Ad Manager CM Playback Count Service" and "Dot2Dot Ad Manager CM Publishing Service".

These services are set to manual by default. They can be set to start automatically by going to My Computer - Manage - Services and Applications - Services and selecting each service and changing it to Automatic.

Configuration of Synchronization Services

1 - Go to the Start Menu - All Programs - Dot2Dot Ad Manager CM Synchronization Services - Configure 2 - In the Ad Manager Connection tab, enter your login details for Ad Manager. You can test the login prior to continuing.

3 - If you wish to change the default settings for the synchronization service, this can be done from the Advanced Tab.

On this tab, you can control the level of logging that is recorded as part of the service. The choices (in order from most detailed/verbose to lease detailed) are: - TRACE - DEBUG - INFO - WARNING - ERROR - FATAL

Logs can be viewed by going to Start-All Programs - Dot2Dot Ad Manager CM Synchronization Services - Logs. This will show you a daily list of logs. Please note that logs in this folder are not manually deleted.

You can specify how frequently you want the synchronization service to check for new activity that needs to be published to Content Manager. This is done under "Poll interval".

You can also specify how long to wait before trying to reconnect if a connection to Ad Manager is lost. This can be set under "Recovery interval".

Starting/Stopping the services

If you wish to set the Synchronization Service to run automatically, please see Step 3 of the installation for information on how to change the service to start automatically.

If you wish to manually start or stop both services, you can do this at any time by going to the Start menu - All Programs - Dot2Dot Ad Manager CM Synchronization Services, and selecting "Start "or "Stop" as appropriate. This will start/stop both the synchronization and publishing services.

Advanced Testing

If you wish to undertake advanced testing of the connection, this can be done through a real time view of the logging.

In order to do this, the synchronization service must be stopped prior to proceeding. Once you have stopped the service, you can go to the "Program Files\Dot2Dot\Ad Manager CM Sync Services" folder on your machine and double click "CpDm2Cm".

Once the console has opened, you can go to the Log Level menu and select the type of logging you wish to run. Next, you can go to the Service menu and select which service you wish to start running. The console will display the logging details as they occur.

Once you have finished testing, go to Service - Stop and you can then safely exit the program.
