There are a number of terms that will be used throughout the Digital Media (2) module section of the wiki.

Below are some common terms and a definition for each

Zone - An area of the screen, measured in pixels.

Layout - The Layout identifies the Size of the digital screen, and is measured in pixels. The Layout also allows you to identify the different Zones, along with their positions on the screen. If you want to show multiple types of content at the same time you can have multiple Zones in the Layout (an example of multiple Zones in a Layout would be when showing the content on the screen, along with a ticker at the bottom).

Spots - A single advertisement of a predefined length.

Segment - A Segment is a grouping that is used to organize when Spots are played. Segments can be "For sale" (and managed in Ad Manager) or not "For sale" (and managed in Content Manager). A Segment can be either time based or Spot based. If the Segment is time based, a maximum length for the Segment can be identified, which represents the Segment's capacity. If the Segment is Spot based, the Segment has a maximum number of Spots, which represents the Segment's capacity.

Loop - A Loop is a group of Segments that have been placed in the desired sequence, with the specified number of items to play from each Segment.

Trigger - Is an action or an event that can be monitored for changes. When the specified change occurs, a different Loop can be played.

Channel - A Channel allows you to take the Layout and identifies which Loops are assigned to which Zones, and which Triggers are assigned to the Channel.

Player - The physical computer at the location.

Output - Each Player can show up to 2 different Channels of content. Each Channel of content is assigned to an Output on the Player, and is distributed to the appropriate face(s).
